Welcome to LOVEfords which was founded on April 11, 2000.
LOVEfords is not affiliated with Ford Motor Company, Legendary Ford Magazine, or any other enterprise. This site is maintained independently on a volunteer basis by the author as a devoted effort to encourage the acquisition, preservation, and enjoyment of Ford-built vehicles and to recognize the accomplishments of the Blue Oval world-wide. LOVEfords was updated on 06/18/10. See the FEATURES section for many Ford Mercury Edsel Lincoln articles.
Ford, Mercury, Edsel, and Lincoln Date Codes
Understanding the date code system used by Ford, Mercury, Edsel, and Lincolns is not
difficult. LOVEfords has prepared a downloadable PDF that will get you started. It is located in the public area of the LOVEfords Forum. Click on this link to go to the News page with the date code system article download.
The FMEL date code system was adopted in 1949 and used at least through the late 1980s on door and firewall data plates/stickers. This same system was used on Ford trucks. Some Ford trucks have the data plate in the glove box.
The rumor of Mercury's death is greatly exaggerated....

LOVEfords supports the vision and long-range plans held by Ford Motor Company for its growth and place in the world automotive marketplace. Regardless of what happens to the Ford "lineup", the Mercury will never die or become an orphan at LOVEfords. Please participate in that future by becoming a registered user of the Forum, Blog Spot, and Garage Gallery.

Park in the LOVEfords Garage
LOVEfords visitors will recall that the site used to have a Gallery of cars belonging to FMEL owners all over the world. The Gallery grew and finally became too big to manage for one person. With that, the site now has a user-managed Garage as part of the Forum section.

Above we see a 1960 Meteor Montcalm made by Ford of Canada. Not only is this car very uncommon to see in 2009 (or any year for that matter), how about that obscure color scheme? It's a combination of Ford (USA) Beechwood Brown and Mercury Polynesian Beige (the latter of which was not even offered as a comparable Ford color, even on Thunderbird). This picture comes from the 1959 Ford Motor Company Annual Report; it is a Ford marketing and publicity picture - so how about that factory-installed combination spotlight and mirror?!
If you would like a high-resolution copy of the 1960 Meteor Montcalm please write to LOVEfords.
